`The Roundhouse, Calceby Corner, Lincolnshire`
Evelyn Pears (fl.1900-1920)
A large and impressive oil by Lincolnshire artist Evelyn Pears depicting the Roundhouse, a well known landmark at Calceby Corner in Lincolnshire. Robustly painted with nice texture and excellent understanding of light effects - note the pools of sun in front of the gate and the soft shadow on the cottage walls. Housed in a very nice period Edwardian frame.
Evelyn Pears (fl.1900-1920) was a landscape painter who lived in Lincoln. She is recorded as exhibiting at Birmingham City Art gallery in 1900. Her paintings are often scenes of Lincolnshire and the East Coast. Lived at Eastmere House, Mere, Lincoln.
