Miss Jessie R. Allan (fl.1881-1925)
`At the Ferry, Montrose Harbour ` 1910
A twilight view of the ferry pier at Montrose over 100 years ago - you can just see the last of the sun through the legs of the wooden pier. Lovely composition and atmosphere. I do not think much of this exists now -the harbour has been modernised. Very nice off white mount and quality gilt frame.
Miss Jessie R. Allan was a Glasgow artist who exhibited widely between 1889 and 1923 She exhibited 26 times at the Glasgow Institute, 9 times at the Royal Scottish Academy, 3 times at the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours.
